Uses of Methylphenidate Extended-Release Chewable Tablets
This medication is used to treat attention deficit problems with hyperactivity. Your doctor may prescribe it for other reasons, so consult with them.
What do I need to tell my doctor BEFORE I take Methylphenidate Extended-Release Chewable Tablets?
Prior to taking this medication, inform your doctor if:
You are allergic to methylphenidate or any other component of this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets).
You have any health conditions such as glaucoma, agitation, anxiety, overactive thyroid, blood vessel disease, high blood pressure, heart structure problems or other heart problems, Tourette’s syndrome or tics, or if you have ever had a stroke.
You have taken certain drugs for depression or Parkinson’s disease in the last 14 days such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, selegiline, or rasagiline.
You are taking any drugs such as linezolid or methylene blue.
You have trouble swallowing.

What are some things I need to know or do while I take Methylphenidate Extended-Release Chewable Tablets?
While taking this medication, remember to:
Inform all healthcare providers that you are taking this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets).
Avoid driving or performing tasks that require alertness until you know how this medication affects you.
Be aware that heart attacks, strokes, and sudden deaths have occurred in adults taking this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets). Sudden deaths have also occurred in children with some heart problems or heart defects. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience a fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; weakness on one side of the body; trouble speaking or thinking; change in balance; drooping on one side of the face; change in eyesight; chest pain or pressure; shortness of breath; or severe dizziness or fainting.
Have your blood pressure and heart rate checked as directed by your doctor.
Be aware that this medication may increase the risk of seizures in some people, including those who have had seizures in the past. Consult your doctor to determine if you are at greater risk of seizures while taking this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets).
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets).
If you have phenylketonuria (PKU), consult your doctor as some products have phenylalanine.
Be aware that a severe and sometimes deadly condition called serotonin syndrome may occur if you take this medication (methylphenidate extended-release chewable tablets) with certain other drugs. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience agitation, change in balance, confusion, hallucinations, fever, fast or abnormal heartbeat, flushing, muscle twitching or stiffness, seizures, shivering or shaking, excessive sweating, severe diarrhea, upset stomach, or vomiting, or severe headache.
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained bruising or bleeding; signs of infection such as fever, chills, or sore throat; or feel very tired or weak as these may be signs of low blood cell counts.
Be aware that this medication may affect growth in children and teens in some cases. They may need regular growth checks.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Your doctor will need to weigh the benefits and risks of this medication for you and your baby.
