Uses of Amphetamine Oral Suspension
Amphetamine oral suspension is primarily used to treat attention deficit problems with hyperactivity. However, it may also be prescribed for other reasons. Consult with your doctor for more information.
Before Taking Amphetamine Oral Suspension
Prior to taking amphetamine oral suspension, inform your doctor if:
You are allergic to amphetamine oral suspension or any of its components, other drugs, foods, or substances.
You have blood vessel disease, high blood pressure, heart structure problems, other heart problems, or Tourette’s syndrome or tics.
You have glaucoma, agitation, anxiety, or an overactive thyroid.
You have a history of drug abuse or stroke.
You are taking acetazolamide or sodium bicarbonate.
You have taken certain drugs for depression or Parkinson’s disease in the last 14 days, such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, selegiline, or rasagiline.
You are taking linezolid or methylene blue.
You are taking cimetidine, dexlansoprazole, esomeprazole, famotidine, lansoprazole, nizatidine, omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole, or ranitidine.
You are breastfeeding.

Things to Know or Do While Taking Amphetamine Oral Suspension
While taking amphetamine oral suspension, remember to:
Inform all healthcare providers that you are taking this medication.
Avoid driving or performing tasks that require alertness until you know how the medication affects you.
Consult your doctor if the medication stops working well or if you have been taking it for a long time or at high doses.
Consult your doctor before stopping the medication if you have been taking it for many weeks.
Undergo heart tests before starting the medication.
Check your blood pressure and heart rate as directed by your doctor.
Have blood work checked as directed by your doctor.
Avoid drinking alcohol with some products. Consult your doctor or pharmacist to see if you need to avoid drinking alcohol while taking amphetamine oral suspension.
Inform your doctor if you or a family member experience new or worsening behavior and mood changes like depression, bipolar illness, or thoughts of suicide.
Call your doctor immediately if you experience signs of serotonin syndrome or heart attacks, strokes, and sudden deaths.
Undergo regular growth checks if you are a child or teen taking this medication.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant.
How to Take Amphetamine Oral Suspension
To take amphetamine oral suspension, follow these instructions:
Take the medication early in the day to prevent sleep problems.
Take with or without food.
Shake well before use.
Measure liquid doses carefully using the measuring device that comes with the medication. If there is none, ask your pharmacist for a device to measure amphetamine oral suspension.
Do not add to food or mix with other liquids.
Put the cap back on after using your dose.
Consult your doctor before using OTC products that may raise blood pressure.
Consult your doctor before giving amphetamine oral suspension to a child.
What to Do If You Miss a Dose
If you miss a dose of amphetamine oral suspension, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take two doses at the same time or extra doses.
